This page describes what FindJobBoards actually stores, why, and for how long. It is written against the running code rather than from a template, so it is specific and short.

Searching needs no account

There is no sign-up, no login and no email address required to search for job boards, to open a board profile, to compare boards or to follow a link out to a board. We do not ask for your name, your employer or your phone number anywhere in the search flow.

The one cookie we set

FindJobBoards sets a single first-party cookie, named fjb_sid. It holds a random identifier and nothing else — no name, no email address, no IP address, nothing derived from you. It lasts one year, is marked HttpOnly and Secure, and is sent only to this site.

It exists for one reason: to link a search to the outbound clicks that followed it, so we can tell whether the boards we recommended were useful. That is the measurement the whole product is built to do.

The cookie is not used for advertising, not used to build a profile of you, and not shared with or sold to anyone. Clearing your browser cookies removes it; the site keeps working, we simply cannot connect that visit's searches to its clicks.

What a search stores

When you run a search we store one record of it, containing:

• the role text you typed, truncated to 120 characters;
• the concepts we matched it to — the normalized role wording, the categories and specialisms, and the country, region or city;
• the work mode and, when you set them, the seniority and employment type;
• which boards were shown, at which position, with the match label and the reason codes;
• the random fjb_sid identifier and the time.

No other free text is kept. The typed location is turned into a place we recognise and the original wording is discarded, and there is nowhere in the search flow to paste a full job description. We do not store your IP address or your user agent alongside a search.

What an outbound click stores

When you follow a link from FindJobBoards to a job board, we record which board you went to, which kind of page we sent you to (the employer or post-a-job page, the pricing page or the homepage), which of our pages you clicked from, the position the board held in that list, the random fjb_sid identifier and the time. Nothing else.

What you then do on the job board's own site is governed by that board's privacy policy, not this one.

Forms you choose to send us

Submitting a job board, claiming or correcting a listing, or registering interest in promotion are the only places where you give us personal data. Those forms store your name, your email address, the board you are writing about and your message. We keep them to act on the request — to review the board, to verify a claim, or to reply to you — and for nothing else. We do not add form addresses to a marketing list.

For abuse prevention each form record carries a one-way hash of the sending IP address. The address itself is never written to the database in readable form; the hash lets us rate-limit and spot floods of identical submissions without keeping the address.

How long we keep things

Deletion runs as a scheduled job after the daily aggregation. Aggregated counts that contain no identifier — how many searches ran on a day, how often a board was clicked — are kept beyond these windows.

Analytics from other companies

This site can load one privacy-focused analytics script, configured by the site owner. The script tag is only rendered when an analytics URL is configured; with no URL set, no third-party analytics code is loaded, no request is made to a third-party analytics host, and the content security policy does not permit one. In the configuration this site ships with, no analytics URL is set.

If the owner enables one, that provider's own cookie and data handling apply in addition to this page, and the marker above must be replaced with the provider's name and a link to its policy. There are no advertising tags, no social media pixels and no tag manager on this site.

Asking for access or deletion

Write to the address in the marker at the top of this page. What we can do depends on what we hold:

• Form data. We can find it by the email address you used, and can send you a copy or delete it, subject to any request still being open.
• Searches and clicks. These are tied only to the random cookie identifier, so we have no way to tell which records are yours from an email address alone. If you send us the value of your fjb_sid cookie we can delete the records that carry it. Clearing the cookie in your browser stops any further searches being linked to it.

Most browsers can also block or clear this site's cookie for you, and can send a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal; we set no cookie beyond the one described above regardless.

Correcting information about a job board

If you run a job board and something we publish about it is wrong or out of date, use the "Suggest an update" link on the board's page in the directory. Corrections from board owners are reviewed by a person. If a board should not be listed at all, say so in the same form and explain why.

Changes to this page

When what we store changes, this page changes in the same release. There is no mailing list to announce it on, so the current version here is always the one that applies.
